With the new session just getting under way in Salem, Dave Moskowitz is hard at work already
representing our interests in conservation and preservation of cold water fisheries. Dave is
new this year as our legislative lobbyist and we'll be providing regular reports of his efforts.
Bills To Watch
- Legislative draft bill eliminating the current exemption from the requirement to seek
a permit to withdraw groundwater for certain uses.
- Legislative draft bill requiring the measurement of water use.
- Mandatory fluoridation - SB 33. The Oregon Dental Association just will not give up
on this idea despite of other treatment options and the growing body of scientific
research demonstrating links to other serious health risks.
- DOGMI Authority to regulate mining activity - SB 149. Under review
- Directing the State Forester to establish and create Working Forests to support
education initiatives- SB 98. Under review
Joint TU Banquet and Auction Planning Underway
Planning is underway for a TU Oregon banquet this fall. We hope to raise money to fund
conservation projects, kids fishing camps and help support new chapters gain some
